Another Panto!

So one of my birthday presents was a ticket to see Peter Pan in the Gaeity Theatre. As you know, I have a deep love for the classic tale.
I have wanted to see some kind of version of Peter Pan since I watched "Peter Pan Live"online. I had my eye on this pantomime for a while but I was told by my parents that they were sold out and quite difficult to get so I had no idea that I was going to get the tickets on my Birhtday.
My family was doing so well at keeping the secret from me ... that was until the tickets had to be printed.
My Mom had gotten a new laptop for Christmas so she bought the tickets online so that she could do it herself so I wouldn't know about them... then they had to be printed.
My Mom completely forgot that her new laptop didn't have the printer software on it yet therefore she couldn't print from the laptop.
She asked my little sister for help but she couldn't figure out the problem so my Mom, reluctantly, asked me for help.
I figured out the problem and came up with a solution. I got her to email me then information so that I could print the tickets from my laptop. At this point I still didn't know what I was printing, I thought it was the tickets to Bermingham for my Dad and Brother.
So I logged onto my laptop and found the email and surely enough... It ws the tickets to the Peter Pan Pantomime in the Gaeity Theatre. I had nothing to say so I just screamed from excitement and ran to my parents to hug them.;
I then printed five tickets for my mom, my dad, my sister, my brother and I to go see Peter Pan.

The wait was sooooooooo looooonnnnggggg but when it did come along I was losing my mind with the excitement! I got all dressed up and we left extra early so I knew I woudn't miss a thing !
THE SHOW WAS AMAZING !!! The acting was fenominal and the costumes and make-up were just "on-point".

It was so overwhelming to see my favourite story being brought to life infront of my own eyes.
The show was so funny ! Nana, originally the dog that is also the Darling's Nannie, was played my a man in drag named Joe Conlon who was celebrating 25 years of being in Pantos. Peter was played my none other than Johnny Ward, Who you'll know was Pauley from Love/Hate.

The dancers were brilliant and the pirates always had me laughing :D
The stage sets were so realistic and so simple so they didn't distract from the actors. It was very interactive! At one point there are dancing mermaids while Peter is at Mermaid LAgoon and on both sides of the theatre GIANT blow up tentacles come out from each side of the boxes in the audience and fall down from the sides!!! They were moving around !!! It looked like there was a giant octopus inn the theatre !!!

After a big build up to this show, I have to admit that it was better than I could have ever imagined <3 The only thing I would change would be... MAKE IT LONGER !!! :P

MY BIRTHDAY

So I turned 16 last week and it has been an amazing week so far. I woke up to breakfast in bed which was so nice cuz like; that never happens. So I had breakfast and got up for school. Because it was my birthday, I had something in the morning so I came in a little late at break.
When I came in I was greeted by the biggest hug I have ever had by my friend Emily ( I think she was more excited about my birthday than me LOL). She got me a box of celebrations to have at home with my family but ... I ended up eating them throughout the day along with some of my friends so they didn't last long.

I had a relatively normal day at school so the real fun started when I got home as I was having a party with my family when I get home.
I walk home so when I did arrive, my Mom was waiting for me at the door and she brought me into the kitchen. When I went into the kitchen, I was so shocked with all of the decorations everywhere! There were banners and balloons on the walls and my mom bought helium balloons with Happy Birthday printed on them. The room looked so pretty, then she told me to look at the table and there, on top of a neat tablecloth was every sweet I loved, marshmallows covered in chocolate, handmade cupcakes and a cake that my mom baked herself. What really made me laugh was when she told me that she forgot to add a raising agent so it was very short in height LOL.
But it was still delicious!!!
I was told by my mom and dad that they are saving my birthday present until my birthday party with my friends so I got little things like candles (which I really wanted) and some pamper stuff.
I had a fun night with my family and it was a great birthday.
The next day, my mom called me out to the kitchen saying that something wouldn't print from her laptop. I tried to solve the problem and it turns out that her laptop didn't have the printer software in it yet, because it was new, so she couldn't print anything from it. Little did I know she was trying to print my birthday present !

So I ended up finding out that a part of my birthday present is to see Peter Pan in the Gaiety theatre !!! I had been telling my parents that I wanted to go for months and all they said was that it was sold out but now I have tickets to see Peter Pan THIS SUNDAY !!!! I am so excited and I can't wait to see my favourite story being brought to life, live on stage !!! I can't wait til my party on Friday so I can see what my other present is ... It can't beat this one ! :D

Peter Pan !!!

"The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it"
~ J.M. Barrie

So.... I have always had a little "obsession" with Peter Pan. It is my favourite childhood fairy-tale and my all time favourite story.

When I was little, I was in love with the Disney version of Peter Pan. As i got older I began to watch the film based off of the JM. Barrie play and the PJ. Hogan screenplay starring Jeremy Sumpter. So I have always had a huge interest in the classic tale but as I got older I wasn't as preoccupied as when I was younger, that all changed on December 4th 2014.
I had heard that NBC in America was going to to a live television production of the broadway musical Peter Pan. When I heard this I was so excited!!!
I started by doing research on the cast to the point what I could tell you their life story and then I rewatched all of the versions of my favourite childhood story.
Peter Pan has always had a place in my heart.
A lot of people don't know that Peter Pan has ALWAYS been played by a woman. I had always known this from my extensive research but when people found out that Peter would be played by Allison Williams (star of Girls), the critics had no problem sharing their opinion on the cast.
Allison proved them wrong in the 3 hour production and her performance completely blew me away. She captured the innocence and childlike personality of Peter so well that you would swear she was born to play the part... The songs weren't that bad either.
Hook was played by oscar winner Christopher Walken and the lost boys were played by the cast of Disney's Newsies.
This amazing show sparked my interest in Peter Pan and JM Barrie's other writings.
When christmas came around I received a hardback copy of JM Barrie's book "Peter Pan and Wendy" which is one of my favourite stories.
Peter Pan is full of many hidden meanings and it's such a diverse story. I would highly recommend the musical, films and book to anybody.
So that is one of things I did over my Christmas holiday.

Fun Walk

This week was our school Fun Walk. The "Fun Walk" is a thing are school does each year during Anti Bullying Week to promote anti bullying. Every class and there tutor organise a performance with a dance and music to promote anti bullying. As a TY student I had to dress up in yellow with all of the other TYs. The first years were pink, second years;purple, the third years were green, fifth years; blue and the sixth years were black and white. Our class name is class Belle named after Belle from Beauty and The Beast. We already new we could work with this as Belle wears a yellow/golden dress. So we immediately came up with the idea of using Beauty and The Beast as our theme. Our tutor is Mr. Lawlor and we thought it would be very funny if we dressed him up as Belle instead of the beast. He was on the fence at first but we got him to agree. All that was left to be decided was who was going to be the beast. Sinéad lee offered to dress up as the Beast for our performance. We basically did Beauty and The Beast meets The Ugly Duckling. Sinéad would be bullied by everyone at school and then Mr. Lawlor would strut in and become friends with her as well as stop all of the other bullies(played by the rest of the class). We got Sinéad a mask and she got herself a onesie to wear, but the funniest part was getting Mr. Lawlor into a dress. We got him a yellow dress with a yellow t-shirt and a big brown wig.Sadly our class did not win but we all had great fun making up the dance routine instead of PE.I was a great day!
